Low level laser therapy & photobiostimulation are modern therapy techniques that may be used to good effect in the treatment and alleviation of a wide range of equine conditions. Both AnnMarie & Jane are trained laser operatives and by working in close association with our vets we can offer your horse the benefits of this modern medical technique.
Typical conditions that respond well to this therapy fall into several categories:
The treatment uses relatively low power laser probes to deliver an accurately measured dose of energy to the area appropriate for treatment. Wavelength, dosage & the frequency at which the dose is pulsed during delivery, are all factors that may be varied to allow the treatment to be targeted specifically.
We utilise two probes at different wavelengths to maximise the biostimulative effect of the laser.
As examples, we have recently had 2 very pleasing successes:
1) In reducing proud flesh whilst accelerating healing of an open wound in an older horse with poor healing skin.
2) In solving the problems of a mare who post foaling had developed a visually noticable 'tightness' in the lumbar region of her back. This had lead to further leg strains which also needed resolving. Using combination therapy based around laser treatment every 3rd day, these issues were quickly resolved.
